Linux Resonance

Well I found out today that I’m now the project lead on a fairly high level project.  That means in addition to all the development work I now have even more to do which eats up off duty time as well with travel, management, and briefings.  I’d thought I was in a time crunch before but now the project which at it’s core is Linux and involves a highly scalable design for what will essentially be a high performance task specific cluster and one that can be easily replicated at other sites.  This all means that my team and I have to develop a lot from scratch as this goes above and beyond anything thats commercially available for the task, hence why the project started.  This is a challenge in every sense of the word as I have a lot to learn myself and not a lot of time to spare for it.  Everyone on the team is having their limits pushed for what we need to do.  I don’t have the time to give to my podcast.  I’ve harped on audio quality and content but it it going to take time I don’t have to spare.  If I get the occasional spare moment I’ll contribute to Linux Basement.  I’ll try to keep my blog updated occasionally and I may on a rare occasion be able to post an episode but I can no longer maintain any kind of regular release.

Due to events outside of my control I’m going to have to adjust my release schedule.  This is  due to a lot of things just adding up in addition to me stepping into a teaching role in addition to my normal duties.  It comes down to me just not having the time to devote to the podcast it deserves for my original planned releases.  I enjoy doing the podcast and want it to continue so I’m going to shoot for monthly releases at the time and hopefully I’ll be able to go to bi-monthly as my workload slacks off.

I apologize for the delays in getting episode 8 out.  The  interview is taking longer than expected to arrange but as soon as it’s done I’ll have the episode out that day.

Episode 8 will be the first part of a series on building an open source network from the ground up.  It may take a bit more time than normal for me to get it out as I’m also trying to arrange some interviews.  I thought I might as well put something up so people would know I wasn’t slacking too much.

Just wanted to put up a post telling everyone I was still around.  I’m getting settled into the new place and with my roommate here I don’t really have a recording friendly environment until my personal goods arrive and I get fully setup again.

If you remember me mentioning that I was temporarily recording at my parents before I moved on, well it’s about time that I got on the road and headed to my destination.  As always there is the whole mess of nerves and finding a place to live, etc.  My next episode may be delayed a week or two but I will record it as soon as I get living arrangements settled and moved in.
